OSS Excellence Recognition at SUPERCOMM 2000
ATLANTA, June 8, 2000 - Allegiance Telecom, a leading facilities based local exchange carrier based in Dallas, has received a SUPERQuest Award in recognition of its outstanding achievement in implementation of network technologies. The third annual SUPERQuest Award ceremony was held at the SUPERCOMM 2000 Conference and Exhibition at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The awards are sponsored by SUPERCOMM and CMP Media's tele.com and Network Magazine.
Allegiance Telecom's implementation of a state-of-the-art operations support system (OSS) was lauded as the best application in the Best Built Public Network or Service/OSS category. Allegiance's OSS allows the company to "electronically bond" with incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs). This allows provisioning of access lines through an automated process, reducing cycle time and eliminating the errors and costs of a manually processed system. With the advanced system, Allegiance has reduced the time required to switch customers from ILEC service from 30-45 days (manually) to 10-15 days (electronic bonding).
To date, Allegiance has bonded with Bell Atlantic, Southwestern Bell and SBC Communications' Pacific Bell and Ameritech; the company expects to be bonded with every ILEC in its markets by the end of 2000. Allegiance Telecom's OSS uses software from MetaSolv Software, Inc., Plano, Texas, and DSET Corporation, Bridgewater, NJ.
The SUPERQuest Award recognize the implementations of public and private network solutions, and the key product/technology involved in those solutions, that have advanced business for the customer. Organizations were recognized in 12 categories and a distinguished panel of ten industry executives, consultants and editors of industry publications selected the winners. The competition, established in 1998, attracted more than 160 entrants (a 50 percent increase from 1999), showcasing the widespread innovation taking place in the fast-paced telecommunications industry.
SUPERCOMM, the premier annual communications and information technology exhibition and conference, is presented jointly by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Telecom Association (USTA).
