Hosting.com Introduces Complete Package of Database Services for Oracle 8i, SQL Server 2000, and MySQL

Managed Database Services Launched

DALLAS, October 3, 2001 -Hosting.com, the Web hosting division of Allegiance Telecom (Nasdaq: ALGX), has introduced its fully-managed database service. The new Managed Database Service provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a total, turnkey dedicated database solution for the Oracle 8i, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and the MySQL database management systems.

Hosting.com's Managed Database Service enables its customers to take full advantage of database-backed Web applications without incurring the sometimes significant up-front software licensing fees and deployment costs. The service provides a total database solution for the small and medium-sized business and includes Hosting.com's certified Database Administrators (DBAs) and highly-trained technical support staff procuring and maintaining the database license, installing and configuring a default database, proactively monitoring database processes and file system space, administering and maintaining a database security policy, and performing online hot backup of the database.

The Managed Database Service provides maximum reliability and performance because it is provisioned on a dedicated platform for each individual customer as opposed to a shared infrastructure used by many customers. Advanced Database Technical Support -- performance tuning, custom installations and configurations, and migration services -- are also available to assist customers in optimizing database application performance.

Databases are the fundamental building blocks for many Web applications such as e-commerce, customer relationship management (CRM), on-line customer service and support, and supply chain management extranets. This new Managed Database Service allows Hosting.com customers to rapidly deploy such database-dependent applications and reduce time-to-market for business and mission critical applications. Additionally, databases provide the means to turn customer data and other information into invaluable business intelligence.

"With the introduction of our fully-managed database package, Hosting.com now offers one of the most comprehensive database solutions in the Web hosting industry," said Al DeLeo, Hosting.com product manager for dedicated hosting and managed services. "Our dedicated database service provides the small to medium-sized enterprise a rapid and cost-effective method for deploying and unleashing the power of the most widely-used commercial databases on the market today."
